Using Jet Ski Covers and Preparing For Storage
Before you put on your jet ski covers and store your ski for the winter, there are a few things that you need to do to make sure that your engine stays in top condition. Simply putting on the cover and storing your jet ski in a safe place is really not enough to ensure that your craft will function later. Cold weather has a nasty effect on motorized crafts.
Preparing Your Jet Ski For Storage
You need to drain the engine and clean the jet ski first. As soon as you take the jet ski off the water, drain the water from the engine carefully. You can do this by tilting the jet ski on its trailer. Raise the bow of the jet ski higher to ease the water out. Leave the jet ski in that position for a while to get as much water out of the engine.
While in this position, turn the engine of the jet ski on. Turn the handle back and forth to release water that is trapped in the engine. Repeat the process several times to make sure that all the water is drained off the engine. When draining the water off the engine, avoid letting the engine run for more than 30 seconds at a time. Keeping the engine running for more than 30 seconds may cause the engine to overheat so be careful.
Once you are sure that there is no more water inside the engine of your jet ski, you may now proceed with the cleaning process. Always remember that putting on jet ski covers without cleaning your jet ski first may cause rusting and damage to your engine. If you don’t want to end up with a jet ski with corroded parts at the end of the winter, clean off the grime from the jet ski before putting on the jet ski covers.
Use soap and water to wash your jet ski thoroughly. After washing your jet ski, use some absorbent cloth to wipe it dry. After drying it off, wax the jet ski then put oil and lubricants into its metal parts before you finally put on the jet ski covers.

The History
The Kawasaki jet ski was actually the first of its kind. Originally created in 1973, the Kawasaki jet ski soon became an amazing trend-setter. Within the next thirty years, many more manufacturers would build their own versions of these incredible water vehicles, inevitably calling them jet skis, as well. But the Kawasaki jet ski was the first. Little did they know how incredibly popular these vehicles would be!
The Ski
There are two basic types of Kawasaki jet ski – the stand-ups, and the sit-downs. Each type of ski is designed for one or the other, either riding while standing up, or while straddling the ski in a sitting position. The very first models were stand-ups; but as soon as there was a sit-down model of the Kawasaki jet ski, riders soon found ways to improve upon the sport. This led to the creation of many sport models, which are now used in racing and other extreme-type competitions.
If you have decided to purchase a Kawasaki jet ski, it is important that you take a few lessons on how to best operate the ski, before you put it out in the water. There are several ways you can do this. Some dealers have simulators which offer a realistic simulation of riding a Kawasaki jet ski for learning purposes; while others have small training ponds where they offer lessons to those who wish to learn. Taking part in one of these lessons will not only protect you, but also those in the water around you.
There’s never been a better time to buy a Kawasaki jet ski than today. Get yours and enjoy the water in a whole new way.
